“The Devil’s Bend”

“The Devil’s Bend”

is a loop of three holes on the Mystic Course so named because of both their striking beauty and ferocious difficulty.

The Devil’s Bend begins with arguably the most challenging hole in China – The Demon Hole - #3 of the Mystic Course. This hole is the talk of all golfers who come to play Mystic Springs and has fast become known as the most challenging hole in China. The hole requires two perfectly struck shots to reach the green in two, made even more challenging by the elevated tee and 200 yard carry which is required to reach the ideal spot in the fairway. The fairway landing area is protected by a large natural rock outcrop at the corner of the dogleg and as the hole bends to the right a second shot requiring a carry over another gully is needed to reach the uphill green where par is a great score. Those who fail to drive their ball in the ideal spot will be forced to lay up and attempt their third shot over the gully.

Following the Demon Hole are Holes #4 & #5 which combine to feature uphill and downhill elevation changes along with shots that must carry over gullies and which leave no room for error for the tee shots on both holes. This stretch of holes at ‘The Devil’s Bend’ is the toughest on the course and also offer the golfer some of the most scenic views of the property.
